After several weeks spent in C4D Basecamp (SoM on-line course),
here I share the final project - the Ultimate Test .. / my take.
here I share the final project - the Ultimate Test .. / my take.
Unlike with other assignments, where we were usually provided with some basic assets (so as we could concentrate on a certain task only) - in this final one we were tasked to build the entire project from scratch, from start to finish.
All we got in a brief was just a simple storyboard - and a voiceover ..
So - our task was to practice everything we´ve learnt in the course -
from modelling, texturing, lighting .. to camera work and animation.
And a bit of our own art direction, too.
Needless to say that my previous Animation Bootcamp (taken previously) experience came in pretty handy here - helped a great deal.

I was considering a few different approaches and/or other concepts, incl. some a bit more complex ones, combining 2D and 3D (not part of the course), maybe too - but - as I ran out of my ´learning´ time, at the end of the course / I only had limited time for finishing this (as I had to get back to ´real´ work) -
so - in the end - I decided to keep it simple ..
It still was a lot of work .. (some parts still might benefit from some more fine-tuning work, I am quite sure .. but had to stop somewhere, at least for now .. ) .. but I enjoyed every single frame.
Loved the creative freedom we had here ..

Making-of / ´case study´

Storyboard /my ´updated´ version ..

Modelling / assets preparation ..

Animatic / 1st rough test (still storyboard frames timing test)
Some more modelling / plants, props etc ..

Moving on .. to animation finally ..
(took some testing at first .. )

Rigging was not part of the course, but - as I wanted to fold the map in a ´classic way´ (and rigging seems to be the easiest/quickest way to achieve this), I decided to use it in this project tho ..
Final animation, finally ..
I could tweak those keyframes forever .. :)
